You may remember Ketut, with his ever present smile greeting you at the front desk during your retreat at Kumara. Ketut has been with Kumara since October 2004.
He remarks that he loves to meet and greet people and that meeting guests is his way to learn about new cultures of many different countries. What he loves in his current job are also the challenges he gets from his daily tasks.
Ketut was born in Singaraja in 1973 and has five sisters and three brothers. He has been married for 15 years, and lives in Ubud with his beloved wife and three kids. “Actually I planned to have two children but I don’t know; the family planning program didn’t work!” he says. “God had a different plan for us! My third child was a beautiful surprise!”
Through his job, Ketut also learns the way of understanding. “It’s important to understand things… then to learn to be understood. Whenever a guest asks me something, I will listen carefully to make sure that the message is clear so I can give the right answer.”
